National American Miss Wisconsin Teen Pageant

On July 11, 2010 Katie attended the National American Miss Wisconsin Pageant. There she competed for the title of National American Miss Wisconsin Teen. There were 56 other girls in her division and she competed in four categories. The community service category included her bringing childrens books and bears to be donated to local charities. The formal wear competition required each contestant to gracefully walk on stage in the evening gown of her choice while showing the judges how confident she was with herself in front of large audiences. The personal introduction category required the young ladies to go on stage and confidently and creatively introduce themselves while saying their name, home town and ambitions in life. Finally the personal interview category prepares the future leaders with interpersonal skills that they will be able to use in every aspect of their life. There were 6 judges at this years pageant and Katie says "I couldn't be happier to represent such a wonderful organization!"

Gardner Dam and Bear Paw Scout Camps

 "Some of my favorite things in life revolve around the Boy Scouts of America. I love the outdoors! My hiking and canoeing skills greatly improved when I hiked the Rocky Mountians at the Philmont Scout Ranch and Canoed to Canada through the Boundry Waters," (Katie Steiger). Since both of her older brothers are Eagle Scouts, she has had the opportunity to tag along with "Dad and the boys" for many years and is constantly reminded how to live by the scout law. Ever since she was 14 she has been a part of the Venture Crew which is the coed branch of scouting. Katie is the President of her local Venture Crew 9033. Scouting and venturing has taught her valuable life skills such as leadership, organization and to never give up on anything.

Wisconsin State Fair

Together with her "Sister Queen" Karlee Neimmer, National American Miss Wisconsin Junior Teen, Katie visited the Wisconsin State Fair. There they met with the Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair and walked in the daily parade that the fair offers. The girls had a lot of fun taking pictures with mascotts, fans and of course eating the famous Wisconsin Cream Puff!

Parades!

One of Katie's favorite appearances to attend are the parades! She usually rides in the Meyer Motors Convertible along with her driver,  Jerry and best friend, Brooke!

Packers Vs Colts

Katie and her friends were fortunate enough to go to the Packer game where the Packers beat the Colts 59 to 24! Katie was showen on the jumbo screen three times! The camra crew recorded her talking into the camera and used the video on the "Mike McCarthy Show" which aired on September 20th, 2010. Go Pack Go!!!

Bear Donation to Columbia St. Mary's

When Katie won the Miss Wisconsin Teen pageant she was given hundreds of bears to donate to a place in need. Since the new Columbia St. Mary's Hospital had just opened she decided to donate the bears there. The hospital staff was extremey appreciative and even gave Katie a tour of their new Emergency Department.

PGA Golf Championship

Katie attended the PGA Championship in Wisconsin. She lives five miles away from the Whistling Straighst golf course. She met many famous golfers, recieved their autographs and gave them her autograph!

Road America

Katie volunteered her time to help with the Children's Station at the Road America race track in Elkheart Lake, Wisconsin. The children enjoyed her presence and her artistic talents. She enjoys the oppertunity to work with children.

Bear Donation to "Big Brothers and Big Sisters"

When Katie won the Miss Wisconsin Teen Pageant she was given hundreds of books to donate to an organization of her choice. Katie chose "Big Brothers and Big Sisters" of Sheboygan County. The books were appreciated and now the children of Sheboygan County are able to recieve them for Christmas.

Miss Minnesota Pageant

Katie went to the Miss Minnesota Pageant as a "Visiting Queen." There she was able to help with all the activities in the pageant.

Miss Illinois Pageant

Katie visited the Miss Illinois Pageant and helped the staff as well as contestants to have a wonderful pageant weekend.

National Venture Crew Jamboree

Katie traveled to St. Louis in September of 2010. There she learned ways to further promote the Venture Crew Organization and had fun interacting with other Venture Crew members from across the United States. The Venture Crew scouts had a fun filled weekend with a wide assortment of games and learned about the St. Louis area police force and new strategies to help out their local Venture Crews. There was even a dance where Katie was able to speek at and sign many autographs.

National American Miss National Pageant

The week of Thanksgiving Katie and her family traveled to Anaheim California where she competed in the National American Miss National Pageant. She had an entire week full of fun activities. The contestants and their families were able to tour Hollywood and Beverly Hills. They had an entire day to go to Disney land and on Thanksgiving day they ate dinner with their new friends. The pageant was judged on the same competitions that the state pagent was. Katie shined in the interview, personal introduction, formal wear and community service competitions. She also entered the optional spokesmodel competition and told a heart touching story about how she helped save someone's life as a volunteer first responder. After the pageant Katie said that she had met some of the greatest ladies in the country and is so blessed to have a good friend in every state. Pageantry has positivly impacted Katie's life and it continues to inspire her to do her best everyday.
