The Venture Crew "Family"
Katie is a dedicated volunteer for the Boy Scout's of America. She is the President for the local Venture Crew 9033 based in Howards Grove and recently helped out at the National Youth Leadership Training camp as the Assistant Medical Officer. The Boy Scout organization is very important in Katie's life. Scouting has made it possible for her to hike the Rockey Mountians at the Philmont Scout Ranch, canoe to Canada in the Boundary Waters, go winter camping and teach a wilderness first aid class. She has reached out by speaking about "Reaching Your Goals" to many scouting organizations. She says that she will continue to be involved in scouting for the rest of her life because it is such a wonderful program.
Katie's Parents
Family is very important to Katie. Whenever she makes an apperance or goes to an event they are always near. Keith and Betty raised their daughter to believe in herself and to always strive for more than what is expected of her. She expressed her love for her parents in an interview after the National American Miss National Pageant. She said "My parents mean everything to me, they have guided me on the pathway of life. My father inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field and become a first responder. My mother inspired me to always give back to my community because you can never give too much. Overall they have raised me to have a strong sense of self and integrity." Katie is more than the average pageant girl and she was raised to always shoot for the stars!
